I am not super fond of attempting to make clearly articulated hard and fast rules; I've seen them go pretty badly. Yes, personal judgment also goes pretty badly sometimes, but it's got the potential to do better, so that's my basic approach. You are welcome to yell at me about my admin decisions in this forum. I will do my best to remember to switch to this account when acting as The Admin rather than as one of the participants.

General guidelines: Try not to be more of a jerk than you really have to. This is stated as a guideline, not a rule, because environments where people try to conceal their emotions tend to result in a lot of repressed emotions and a lot of corresponding blowups, which I think is actually worse than people getting a bit snippy sometimes. If you really wanna have it out, take it to the Drama Mines, or it will probably get taken there for you.

I'm not big on bans. I will prefer things that allow people to continue to participate, albeit with constraints, such as requiring mod approval for posts on people who are prone to emotional blowups.

I will just warn you in advance: I can and do screw up as an admin. I try to listen to criticism, and if I really did screw up, and I become convinced of it, I will apologize. I'm not interested in pretending to be infallible or unbiased, that way lies madness.

Mostly, I just got sick of hearing lots of people tell me that every existing forum for discussing anything like this sucked. I will see if I can suck slightly less at it. This is an experiment; it may fail.
